the next collaborative release between freeride millenium and pauls musique is a terrific two-tracker from manchester artist joseph louis harland manning under his new alias los angeles with the 7? vinyl release artwork designed by daniel rajcsanyi as part of his �baby exhibition in austria. joseph louis harland manning was the drummer of the band wu lyf and is involved in projects like los porcos, the mancunian boyband menage a trois and dream lovers. under his other aliases he released on aficionado, cracki, ocean records and is it balearic? sub label u?ber as well as having made music videos for molly nilsson. here he is fine form across a pair of delicate and moving synth tracks. opener �lamour is a gentle cut that starts with celestial chords and wide-open expanses of synth before a buried deep groove slowly comes to the fore. breathy vocals also add to the loved-up, dreamy feel and the whole thing carries you away in a majestic reverie that shifts from ambience to new age house. the track features the artists own field recordings from the streets of berlin, twisting up sounds from the sidewalk into percussive notes that give an organic feel. the perfectly soothing second offering is �i wanna go to heaven is a gorgeous synth piece that suspends you in a crystal clear blue sky on a warm summers day. chords are smeared and stretched whilst angelic, wordless vocals drift by. it is the sound of a blissful passage to the afterlife and will leave you feeling cleansed.

copenhagen s tartelet is returning to their roots with a dancefloor-focused ep, pizza trance, from dirk 81�a.k.a label head emil m. nyholm. having previously dropped a slew of tracks as muff deep and ctepeo 57 (with max graef), the dj and producer is blessing the universe with three cuts of dancefloor heaven under a new moniker lifted from his days tagging concrete walls in the 90s. influences draw everywhere from disco, to african hi-life, dub, underworld, a few old trance records, and timeless house music.

recorded over a year in berlin and copenhagen, the record kicks off with -m.f.c-, a disco-afro-house hybrid oozing with roland jupiter 6 keys and some funky drums processed on old equipment from the former ussr. the b-side spreads things deep and delicious with -pizza trance (main mix),- a euphoric serving of sounds that substitutes pepperonis and pineapples for glittering sequencers and a bangin bass drum.

parisian producer brice groulier has built a reputation as one of the new guard of techno artists to watch closely with consistently high quality sub aquatic, rhythm shifting techno for labels like semantica, midgar, planet rhythm, and modularz. while looking for music that integrated with our grey area releases, we found ourselves blending more von grall tunes than any other artist, so a horo release was requested. what originally began as a 4 track ep bloomed into an 8 track debut album that sees von grall expand his style beyond the muscular but hazy rhythmic mist he has become known for. the title track infinitum opens the lp like a contemplative bubble. hyper density and inside are pensive, evocative jogs, while emerald city and disturbance ramp up the energy and will be the most favoured floor tunes from infinitum. antonym allegory combines the von grall rhythmic bounce with an emotive pad that will echo in your mind long after listening. motel closes the lp with a quirky, almost joyful flow. infinitum wanders confidently into new ground for von grall and cements him as a versatile and singular voice in techno.

melbournes short black label has been relatively sporadic with its releases up until now, having started back in 2013 with matt kennedys together at 2am ep and dropping the third release on the label back in 2016, rustal s privilege. hopefully this excellent new transmission from newcomer tristan kino will be the start of more productivity from the crew. the ep starts off in fine style with the nervy, reduced acid twitch of yggdrassil, while at the other end of the record niddhog presents a tougher, darker throwdown crafted for seedy techno dancefloors. johannes volk has been snapped up for remix duties, and does a sterling service with the metallic clang of his version of niddhog.

the third installment from barcelona�s nitsa club record label digs into uncharted territories. if the first release was a strong and balanced mixture between ebm and minimal techno and the second one paid a heartfelt and honest homage to detroit electronic heroes, sau poler�s �orchestron� decides to draw a line between emotional melodies and techno rhythms while keeping a strong peak time momentum. young producer from badalona who already released on labels like atomnation, modern obscure music and lo recordings, sau knows how to build a banger with soul without being too cheesy. with an insane pulsating baseline, some high pitched synth swirls and a crispy rhythm that resembles a krautrock drum machine, �orchestron� will be played a lot during the next months.

khalab has arrived onthecorner with �zaire�. �zaire� is the beginning of a new narrative for the artist. in this first chapter khalab creates urgent compositions with layers of sound from the past, present and future. �zaire� is underpinned by an intensely pounding heart of other-worldly percussion. the collaged loops frenetically jab in syncopation breaking off when the inherent swing casts its discrete groove to summon the dance. unrelenting waves of synthlines, basslines and rhythm find harmony amongst the melodic chants and distortion.

turbolenz is a new label from offenbach run by philipp lenz aka delenz. the first label s release comes from shayde, the brain child of delenz and his partner richard hötter. titled �ama il buco- (italian natives get the joke here), it features a very diverse spectrum of sounds and moods. �ama il buco- a slow grower and steady groover that will get many bodies moving and is some ready-to-get-naked material for sure. �kühlschrank in f-moll- is a rather dreamy, yet positive and escapistic affair. insert your favourite sunrise after a long night out here. the flip side starts with a remix by none other than swayzak, the mighty tech house duo from london. their take on �ama il buco- is a crisp and cool peak time affair for a moment of contemplation � if that makes sense. the last track �ofwebach- is obviously an homage to delenz home town offenbach. apparently a more uptempo and experimental terrain, �ofwebach- is something else. all in all, the result is a rock-solid 4-track debut release on turbolenz or as they say in offenbach and frankfurt: megastabiles ding.

grand ancestor�s eleventh release in the catalog features the legendary dub controller, ras muffet, of roots injection fame who�s had his tunes played by the likes of channel one, aba shanti, and jah shaka. with decades of dub experience, ras muffet dug deep into his vaults to produce two eerie dubs focused on the bottom frequencies and the continued evolution of the genre. steppers enthusiasts worldwide will be delighted to get this weighty 12� onto their turntables before this limited pressing is all gone.

sparrow s visit of jamaica, �the isle of springs�, during the month of june 1963, has left him with very pleasant and joyful reminiscences of the love, warmth and hospitality of its people. well! and it s from there it all started, for like oliver twist, sparrow continued, where ever he went to ask for more, and, obviously when the drinks are in, the wits are out. you are therefore left to deduce whatever you may during his presentation of this contribution. �i ll be around� (bossa-nova) is a warning to one of his lovers of her promiscuous traits towards him and the retribution she would eventually suffer for so doing. theses two calypso songs were recorded with the famous bert inniss national recording orchestra. this single 7� is absolutely impossible to find and will warm any dances in the world.

seth troxler�s play it say it label opens up 2018 with another release from the highly regarded ataxia, who serve up their third ep for the imprint. the detroit duo impressed with their previous outings on the label, the supertouch ep back in july 2017 and the acid ep in 2016. since then they have also released on leftroom and nervous and continued their eight year residency at prominent detroit venue tv lounge. their fresh take on motor city techno often comes with flashes of acid and makes cyber punks ted krisko and eric ricker one of the most interesting pairs in the game. opening up the essential ep is �quicksand�, an immediately arresting and busy electro track with real machine soul. the bassline bubbles and boils underneath crisp percussion and emotive keys bring a sense of tenderness. it�s a macho cut with robust drums and is sure to win over any crowd. the fresh �hot snakes� is a deep, menacing track with dark bass gurgling beneath the airy hi hats. frazzled synths are dystopian and brain frying, and together the whole thing takes you into hypnotic territory with an intense sense of urgency that is impossible to ignore. last of all is the freakiest of the lot. the brilliant �texas is the reason� has circling bass that is warped and intriguing and will own any club, while the drums drive on and trippy keys are skewed and twisted up top. it�s a truly intense record for late in the night that is sure to become a big tune. this is an expressive and varied ep full of contemporary and innovative detroit house and techno sounds and marks another step in the ataxia story.

this time y-bayani has support from the great voice of baby naa. baby naa was just hanging out at the studio in accra/ghana when the recordings of rehwe mie enyim took place. the crew was waiting desperately for a singer to back up y-bayani. after an hour of waiting the producer, knowing that she sings at church every sunday, asked baby naa to do the missing part. then something occurred that nobody was expecting and finally everybody was happy that the original singer hadn t made it. rehwe mie enyim is a unique example of how roots-reggae can sound today. maybe it will be the very last recorded real roots-reggae song in human history? on mi sumolo the band of enlightment, reason and love gives us a light and cheerful instrumental every dj must have for his late night wedding set or any other high-class party.

for the first release of 2018 we welcome harry wolfman to the outplay family! having followed his work for the last couple of years we re very happy to have him deliver this varied 4-tracker, which very well might be some of his best work to date. the a side starts off with hitch . a warm and dusty groover driven by rhodes, a rubbery bassline and a thudding kick. a lovely string piece in the middle of the track slowly builds up to the break for it to return to the head nodding groove soon after. the added percussion gives it a nice lively feel as well. pigs in blankets sets the pace a little slower, but the funk goes on. the track incorporates 80s style samples with some excellent synth and chord work. perfect for a warm up session. starting on the b side harry takes it up a notch with nemoto , which will be a definite stomper for the dance floor. it takes you on a 9 minute journey of rolling bumpy basslines, screaming distortion leads and hypnotising synth work. finally, to ease things off, sts-136 (final call) comes in at a slow 88 bpm pace as a perfect closure to the ep. dreamy pads, piano licks and a calming marimba melody combined with a beat which feels like a warm blanket will make you wander off for a moment
